Tainah, an eight year old orphan whose name means "brave warrior" lives
along the Rio Negro in the lush Brazilian rain forest. Through the guidance
of her grandfather, Tainah learns the importance of living in harmony with
nature and finds within herself the desire and determination to protect her
homeland and the animals she has befriended. After several adventures
destroying traps and harassing a group of animal smugglers, Tainah rescues an
endangered baby monkey, Catu, and becomes the target of the poachers. To
protect herself and stop the greedy criminals, Tainah enlists help from
biologist, Isabel and her son, Joninho. The movie, filmed entirely on
location in the Amazon, showcases breathtaking cinematography with
spectacular close-ups of wildlife. The film is in Portuguese with English
subtitles. Families are strongly encouraged to introduce reading-age
