What the Heck is a Shinesman?

I was introduced to this series on Friday, March 19^th at a "Shinesman" American Voice Actor panel at Animazement '99. The Full Title is "Special Duty Combat Unit: Shinesman". It is an Anime spoof of the "Power Rangers." At the panel, Shinsman was called an "Industry Parody." When Shinesman was made in Japan it was made to poke fun at the industry and anime cliche's. It certainly does so. I found it histerical.

I was surprised when I couldn't find even ONE Shinesman page on The Anime Turnpike, so I decided to make a page of my own. Now I'm on the Anipike.

Shinesman is what I call a "one shot deal". More or less there is only one tape, about 60 minutes worth and that's it. Other good "one shot deals" are Dragon half (2ep), One Pound Gospel, Miyuki-chan in Wonderland (Ep1 in Wonderland, Ep2 Through the Looking Glass), and My Dear Marie (3ep, 1 tape). "One shot deals" tend to be pretty silly. Since there isn't much time to present characters or plot everything is just thrown out at "breakneck" speed. The quick pace and absurdity make "one shot deals" highly entertaining. So be prepared to laugh alot or scratch your head in confusion.

This is the cover of the Dubbed tape. At Animazement 99, I managed to get 5 voice actor signatures on my dubbed copy.

This is the cover of the Subtitled tape. I'd have to say that the Dub is funnier but both have their moments.
