It gives a fantasy feel. digital fansubs 1-5 It was interesting. You'll like it better if you play MMORPGs Fitting. RPG type music. The anime takes place in "The World" which is a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG). It's a fantasy type MMORPG. The main character seems disjointed from everyone and has some strange powers that he "shouldn't" have. It's kind of mysterious about him. This really isn't my type of anime but it would definitely appeal to MMORPG players. This is one of the newest anime's in 2002. A.D. Police Decent. I need to watch it again..... DVD I need to watch this when I'm actually awake. .... I was half asleep when I watched this but it seems that the AD Police are a special force of police that kick major ass and have really cool toys *cough* I mean weapons. A-Ko Abenobashi Mahou Shotengai Magical Shopping District By the same designer that did FLCL. The lead guy looks exactly like Naota, but different clothes and hair color. digisubs Confusing as always. More must be seen to know what's going on. no comment. So there is this shopping district Abenobashi. I think it's being torn down to make way for something. A lot of business are closing up shop. People are moving. Now the plot, hrm.... plot.... Well these two kids, the Naota look alike and this girl. They find that there are these animal wards on 4 buildings in the district. These stores were around from the begining. There is a bird (pelican), turtle, dragon and something else in the 4 cardinal directions. Now, by accident the pelican is broken and that's when things get really weird. The end of the first episode really makes you go "Huh?" so I must see more. Aeon Flux An exaggerated style. People are way to thin and stick like. But the hair and clothing is interesting. n/a A blast from the past. --- Well, I remember watching Aeon Flux on Liquid TV on late night MTV as a child. I think there was a continuous story but i kept seeing the same episode. It was weird, but the action and the art was interesting. Ah My Goddess Ai Yori Aoshi Bluer Than Indigo Tottemo kawaii!! As with many new series the colors are bright and alive on their own. I really enjoy looking at this anime. n/a I'd really like to see more. Opening theme sung by Yoko Ishida. A very sweet tune. I watched the first episode raw. I tried to watch without asking what was going on. The girl is in tokyo. She's wearing a kimono and is baffled by the train system so she's obviously never been in the city before. A nice guy helps her out. Obviously he's the one she's looking for because they were both in the opening credits. I did have a few things explained to me. Basically the two main characters Aoi and Kaoru were childhood friends. I believe that a marriage was arranged for them when they were young. He had a falling out with his parents, moved out and gave them an address. Years later Aoi goes in search of Kaoru in Tokyo using the address. When he helps her to find the address she is very upset because its an empty lot. He takes her back to his apartment. They finally realize who each other is. And the episode kinda ends around him letting her stay for a while. good summary here Akira The art is alright. It does get pretty graphic at the end. Th animation is very well done, explosions, oozing etc looks really great. The edges and corners are drawn a bit sharp and square to me but still it's nice to watch. Recorded Dubbed off the Scifi channel It's alright. I think every anime fan has stumbled accross this one on scifi. it's pretty common, but not really one of my favorites. The music is interesting. a strange mix os instruments gives the film and eerie feel. WARNING!! This anime movie suffers hevily from manga compression. The manga will make more sense than the movie ever will. Teh Movie does screw with your mind a bit but it's understandable considering how much manga they compressed. All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku Armitage III: Poly Matrix Movie It's pretty good. I find the people to be a bit square and angled but pretty realistic. I love Armitage's bondage gear uniform. ^_^ Dub off Sci-fi Channel I thought is was cool but suffered greatly from compression. Not outstanding enough to comment. The movie suffers greatly from compression. The is also a OAV that explains a bit more than the movie. It's set in the future and poders questions relating to androids, emotions, procreation...very interesting stuff. Ayashi no Ceres Ceres, Celestial Legend Another Yuu Watase series. I love the art for certain. The one guy looks soooooo much like tamahome, but what do you expect from the same artist? Digital Fansubs Strage yet pretty The opening is terrible. Even for a dramatic series like this the opening is too slow. It doesn't grab you and get you pumped up for the coming episode. The ending song is cool though. I find the story a bit confusing but here goes. There was a woman who was an angel/god (something mystical) who fell in love and married a mortal. The Mikage family is trying to prevent the reincarnation of the angel/god. So on the 16th birthday of any Mikaga girl they test her for magical powers. Well something like that..... Azumanga Daioh Another exceptionally cute anime. This anime is based on the mostly four-panel manga by Azuma Kiyohiko. Digital Fansubs Must watch it subbed. Raw makes no sense. Kawaii!!! The show seems a little disjointed but it is following the short segmented format of the original manga. There are a number of characters, each with a particular quirk. *giggle* BAOH Baoh the Visitor Ugh, ugh ugly! none Once at halloween was enough ---- Some guy had been experimented on and has super powers. I saw it once and that was bad enough. Bakuratsu Hunters Sorceror Hunters It's fun. I really like the eyes. none. I have only seen the OAVs. Need to see TV. I can't comment. Since I've only seen the OAVs I can't say too much, but I do find the premise funny. A group of people with different talents and weapons combine forces to hunt demons and stuff. Plus there are a few love polyhedrons. It's a funny series. Bastard!! It's a bit too "sharp" for me. I like the characters to be drawn with a less angles and more curves. Oh and don't forget the conviently placed shadow. none It was cool. Battle and humor with a splash of gore. No memerable to comment. An immortal evil overlord is sealed into a young boy. When another evil overlord comes to power, Dark Schnider must be awakened to stop the current evil overlord. Lots of fights and flashbacks. Dark Schnider is cool!! Battle Angel Not really my favorite. Actually I don't really know how to describe how I don't like it. Oh well when i'm in a better articulate mode I'll try again. N/A I enjoyed it. Can't remember. Haven't seen it since fall 96. Pretty depressing stuff, but I was in awe of the strenght contained in that small form. Really cool fight scenes. Battle Arena Toshinden I understand that the female characters in fighting games are there just for fan service, but why why why are the clothes so hedious. n/a Bad adaptation of a video game n/a Saw this done Mystery Anime Theater 3000 style at Otakon one year. Even in MAT3K style it was bad. Not worth seeing in its original form. Battle Athletes Victory Cute and fandservicy n/a I should probably watch some more no comment In the future they use athletic competitions to determine miss universe or something. Lots of insanity and lesbian references. Battle Skipper *shrug* Its ok. This is a very generic anime in my opinion so noting is really note worthy. N/A Um....Saw one ep. Its generic anime. Not memerable. A generic magical girl/voltron/sailor moon rip-off. Average girls find out they can transform and do stuff. Blood: The Last Vampire Pretty realistic. Some of the CG backgrounds were amazing. n/a too short n/a There is this girl who is a vampire that is helping a secret organization destroy these creatures that can pose as humans. This was really weird and it ended way too soon. I was expecting a full 90min movie and got 45min of confusion. Blue Seed Fair. I'm no hetai but I like the panties the Kushinada wears throughout the series. ADV Subs 1-26 I liked it. Especially the OMAKE (extra) animations on each tape. The ending song is much better than the opening (Mysterious Tokyo). The rest is not really memerable. A race of plant demons awakens after twins are born in the bloodline that keeps the demons sealed. It's mainly monster of the week, but you get to meet each of the main characters along the way. Comic relief stems from panty shots and clutsy acts. It's just fun. Brain Powered Its ok. Not my favorite style. But I do give them credit for one thing....The mecha cockpits are appropriately named since it is located between the legs. (I know bad joke....) N/A *shrug* I'm not a huge mecha series fan. Average at best. ----- Another mecha series. "Hey what's that kid doing in my mech. How come he can pilot it" blah blah blah..... Bubblegum Crisis OAV Old school anime style art. Definitely big eyes and small mouths. none It's alright. Babes and mecha. The J-pop music of Priss' band is cool. Babes and Mecha is the best short summary for it. Set in the future, a group of women with power suits fight the monster of the week while avoiding the police. The fights are really cool. Bubblegum Crisis 2040 TV A modern take on the original. I like it mch more than the original. none I've only seen one episode but I would love to see more. Again, Priss' band songs are cool. Similar story line to the original but this takes place a little bit before the OAV. The series introduces the characters and how they form the group in the OAV. Additionally the character introduction are a little different than those int he OAVs. Candidate for Goddess Megami Kouhosei The colors are great. The vibrant color help the traditionaly art to blend well with the computer graphic sequences. Art by the creator of DN Angel. Digital Fansubs Pencil Board Awesome!! I just wish there were more episodes. The opening and ending songs are great. This is yet another shounen mecha series but whats different is that lots of boys can pilot not just a handful. Also these guys get paired up with girls who are the mechanics for the pilot's assigned mech. The main problem with this anime is that it is based on a manga. Like Kare Kano the manga wasn't finished when the series went into production, therefore the series stops right in the middle of the plot. I want more!!! Card Captor Sakura A beautiful yet exceptionally cute CLAMP series. The legs are exceptionally long and the guys are very tall. Very cute. Digital Fansubs of series and both movies Kero-chan beanie American CCS Wand American Clow Cards Idol cards Pencil Boards Tottemo kawaii!!! (Soooo Cute) A must see. Even the music is cute. Both the opening and ending songs are very catchy. *sings: Gonna get you get you, catch you catch you ^_^* Anyway...its fun and fits the series to a T. A shoujo magical girl series, period. But there is a lot of character development and interesting relationships between the characters. Note: Card Captors (the american dub on the WB) does NOT exist in my universe. It is blasphemy to speak its name. Clamp in Wonderland It's clamp so it's very very pretty. n/a I need to see this again. cool song It's a music video with a variety of clamp characters. Chobits It's CLAMP and very very cute. Translated Manga, dvds, special pc thing, ufos It's soooo cute. You must watch! Enjoyable. The themes work well. I realy love Chii's subtle little head motion near the end of the opening. It makes the sequence for me. In the near future there are robots called persocoms. Hideki, a country boy trying to get into college finds a persocom he names Chii. Chii is more than the average persocom throwing Hideki into a world he never new. Colorful Well drawn women. Letcherous and goofy men. It's definitely different. DVD Total randomness. A ska opening that kicks ass. There are a few stories in Colorful. But in short all of them are about letcherous men and their different persuits to see panties and such. Combustable Campus Guardress Older art style in my opinion. Some of the proportions are a bit odd but otherwise good. The colors are darker reflecting the darker plotline. Sub 1-4 Funny. (mmmmm, 'splosions) Not too memerable. A school sits on a gate that seals a doorway between our world and a demon world. The survivors from when the gate was last open are now trying to get home by opening the door. The key to sealing the gate is a young boy who is decended from the last key. His guardians are classmates and members of the Student Council. Many explosions and silly, outrageous demons. Comic Party ComicPa (for short) Similar art style to To Heart. The color are bright. Very anime with wild hair colors. ^_^ Digital Fansubs Awesome series!!! A must see. Fun stuff. "My Brothers and Sisters!" This anime is about how to become a doujinshi artist. It is an exceptionally education anime regarding this (lesser know to the american masses) facet of anime. Cosplay Complex Bright and colorful fansubs I must watch more -- It's about cosplayers. I really need to see more of this. Child's Toy Cowboy Bebop An amazing blend of hand and computer animation. Ship designs by Shoujo Kawamori (Escaflowne and Macross). The character designs are highly individual, but Spike reminds me of Lupin. Anyway it's really good. AnimeVillage.com promo button It is a great anime series. One of the best I've seen. Composed by Yoko Kanno (Escaflowne, Macross Plus). An amazing mix of Blues and Jazz with the occasional Heavy Metal and New Tech sound. She is such an amazing composer. In the future, many of the planets/moons have been colinized and to help keep the peace there are bounty hunters. A ship called the Bebop houses Spike and Jet. Along the way they pick up a few "shipmates." Each episode is usually "bounty" of the week, intertwined in that are character backgrounds and flashbacks. The characters have depth which is developed over the whole series. Since each episode is written so well, you can actually watch them out of sequence, but then character develpment can get lost. Crayon Shin Chan Ummm... very strange and grossly disproportioned. n/a *runs in fear* ---- I really cannot comment on the plot of the series but the portion of an episode I saw during Crazy Monkey Hell at Animazement 2002 was enough to scare me from never ever watching it. If you want some idea, the little boy was walking around a hospital but it looked like a butt wearing shorts with legs. These nurses saw it and began probing it..... *ewe* Daa! Daa! Daa! Cute. Round. Snuggly. N/A A cute series that I need to see more of. I can't remember it too well. Two junior high students, a boy and girl, meet some aliens and get roped into taking care of a baby alien. The kid is so cut but gets into a lot of trouble. The situation becomes akward because the baby calls them mommy and daddy. The two of them have to live together to take care of the kid. And they have to make sure noone finds out about the baby. Detective Conan Not really my style. The bodies are disproportionate. N/A I can't really judge at this time. ---- Think Penny from Inspector Gadget minus Gadget the goofball. Conan actually gets credit for the stuff he does. I saw the end of one of the movies at Otakon one year. But I assume the plots are similar....a young intellegent boy solves mysteries and crimes. Devilman Ick N/A (thankfully) *shudder* NEVER watch this anime. Its terrible --- Ack...its too aweful to drag back into my mind. Digi Charat Oh, oh soooooo cute!!! But those finger people freak me out. Digital Fansubs A series that is too cute for its own good. A little bit of weirdness but fun. Recommended. The opening is peppy and cute. First of all this is one of those short 4 minute episode animes. But it is amazing how much can be crammed into 4 minutes. Digi-ko, Puchi-ko and Genma arrive in a UFO. They proceed to get jobs at a manga shop. I haven't watched all 16eps yet but I know more silliness ensues. Digimon Too pointy. n/a Pokemon ripoff. --- This is one of many Pokemon ripoffs. I think the digimon are ugly and the people are disporportionate. *bleh* Dirty Pair Old skool. Totally 80's hair. Very skimpy outfits with BFGs. n/a hehe --- Well since I've only seen parodies I can't really comment on the actual story but its cool to have two women kicking some major but. DNA2 I like it. The colors are bright and the costumes are interesting. Fansub ep1-15 One of my all time favorites. Very funny romatic comedy. The opening theme song "Blurry Eyes" is a great rock ballad. The rest of the music tends to be synthesizer, but fun. A MegaPlayboy creates a population problem in the future. A DNA operator is sent back to the point in time before the MegaPlayboy appeared. The operator screws up.....comedy ensues. Based on a manga Dragonball I don't really like the style. Its too angular for me. N/A Its ok. But too long. --- I can appriciate what Dragonball has done for mainstream anime. The popularity of Dragonball helped to bring other animes over. But I find it still that a battle lasts for more than 2-3 eps. The series is too long for my taste. Dragon Half Very interesting. It almost seems like it was drawn by three different artists because it is constantly shifting from well drawn, average, super deformed. The colors are very bright and fun. ADV sub of Dragon Half One of the funniest anime I have ever seen. I laugh out loud every time. And there's a few little details you'll miss the first time around. The music is fun. It fits the anime. The closing song rocks!! (very fitting) Pretty ubsurd plot, but makes for a very funny anime. Lighthearted and stupid at times. It kept me laughing. It's a good thing it's subtitled our you might miss some jokes. Earth Girl Arjuna Chicko ... Arujuna Interesting. Relatively realistic colors except for Juna's tranformation, chris and that annoying girl. Some digital subs. OST 1&2 Meh. The ending pissed me off. But it was interesting. Its Yoko Kanno. So its the best. The music has a very earthy and natural feel as it should for this story. The music is engaging and wonderful. Arjuna or Juna for short is an average high school girl until she dies in a motocycle accident. While here spirit is floating away Chris appears to Juna and says "I will give you new life if you save the planet." Juna not wanting to be dead agrees without fully understanding the hell she is about to go thru. The anime was trying to convey don't mess with the environment, but went about it in a really messed up way. Earthian Its ok. I like the wings though. *drool* N/A Strange and depressing OAV Not memerable This is a short OAV. Its strange and depressing. Also the two main characters.....um......I'm uncertain as to their relationship. Ebichu: The Housekeeping Hampster A Gainax series, so I like the art. Ebichu is an adorible hampster. The rest of the cast is in an average/simple to draw style. Digital Subs ep1-6 Plush Ebichu Another messed up series from Gainax. The opening is fun. This is one of the 4 minute ep series. Part of a 30 minute time slot called Modern Love Silliness or Bubble Bubble Hour. The series is centered around Ebichu and unfortunate hamster that loves her owner the Office Lady but is constantly abused. Gainax pushed the limits of Japanese sensors with this series. There is vilence, sex and language. If you see this anime, what you see actually aired on Japanese late nite TV. One word was constantly sensored and its another name for a kitty. El Hazard (OAV) I like it alot. The colors are bright and the characters are realistically proportioned (in most cases). Keichi Cel. It's a fun OAV. I'd like to see it again. No memerable. An average high school boy finds a "chamber" in the basement of his school. In the chamber is a woman who sends Keichi and a few others to El Hazard, the Mysterios world, where each of them gains a special power. It's fun to watch them interact in such a strange world in addition to the cross dressing and lesbians. Elf Princess Rane Fairy Princess Ren It reminds me a bit of Kodocha. Bright color schemes. DVD Fun and Strange One-shot. Recommended --- Um, its been a while since I saw this but it is a very silly anime. This is a one-shot so when you buy the tape or DVD you will have the entire series. The one guy with the teal swoosh of hair, he speaks gibberish. So the commercial subs subbed his dialouge as advertisements and silliness spelled backwards. For example... sdnah ruoy no emit hcum oot evah uoy siht gnidaer era uoy fi (if you are reading this you have too much time on your hands). The fansubbers were hard core and translated what he actually says. Stupid lazy commercial subbers. Escaflowne Excel Saga The color schemes are great. The art is borderline too angular for me but I still like it. Digital Fansubs A series that parodies everything. Recommended. The opening is great. But the ending....so sad. Poor Menchi. This series parodies everything in anime and in entertainment. The episodes plots are all over the place. Its just lots of silliness. Fatal Fury Fair. Too much 'bounce" for me. Dub off Sci-fi Channel Generic Video Game Anime Not memerable. Based on the video game of the same name. It follows a few fighters in their struggle against a powerful enemy. It's generic. Final Fantasy Fair. Too many panty shots and too much "bounce" for my tastes. none Generic Video Game Anime The opening song was highly lacking. The rest was not memerable. From what I know it was based on a Final Fantasy game never released in the US. In this world four elemental crystals are in danger of falling into the wrong hands. Two young travelers set out to save the crystals encountering trouble along the way. Fist of the North Star Five Start Stories I'm not fond of it at all. The body proportions were all wrong. Everyone had exceedingly long legs and the women had toothpick waists. Not to mention the gigantic shoulder pieces on the women's clothes. none Interesting story but boring presentation. Classical. In the future piloting a mecha requires a human pilot and an android to interface between the pilot and the mecha. In this story there are three (i think) androids that have emotions and personalities making them "undesireable." It's an interesting concept but I found the "space opera" setting boring. Flame of Recca Its ok. I like the elemental weapon designs. But what's with that guy Kurei and his mask? N/A A decent martial arts series. Fitting. Recca, a boy who loves ninjas, but turns out to be an actual ninja. Recca and friends are brought together to fight off an evil guy who took Recca's girl. There are lots of fights. I like the action. ^_^ FLCL Furi Kuri The Gainax art style....I love their art. They even do a South Park Parody. It was unbelievble. Ah...pushing the limits of art. Digital Fansubs WEIRD, but good. The music is great. 99% of it is composed by a J-pop band named the Pillows. They have a heavyly distorted electric guitar sound. This sound adds an edge to the weird goings on. Very very fitting. A 6 episode OAV by Gainax. It *gasp* has closure, well sort of. More so than Eva or Kare Kano. Anyway...The story revoles around Haruharu Hariko and her search for the Pirate King. Her quest so how gets Naota involved when she crashes into him with her Vespa (a moped) and wacks him with her bass guitar. This is a very strang anime. I swear Gainax is smoking something because noone in their sober mind would create and anime like this. Fruits Basket Furuba A Digital Fansubs, idol cards I love it. Cute and funny. M The chinese zodiac signs are animals. There is a legend that God invited all the animals to heaven for lunch and by coming to lunch that you become part of the heavens. The rat tricked the cat into thinking lunch was the next day. So the cat missed out on being part of the zodiac. A girl encouters this family. Their family is cursed. When hugged by a member of the opposite sex outside of their family they transfor into one of the chinese zodiac signs. But when they change back...*giggle* Now there is someone who becomes the cat and he is always at odds with the rat, from the legend of course. Happily, Kyou the cat is voice by Tomokazu Seki. Full Metal Panic Modern style. Bright colors but with relatively realistic tones. Digital Fansbs Very promising. --- Falls under 15min rule. Staring Tomokazu Seki as Sagura, the main male lead. More later... Full Moon wo Sagashite Very cute. Reminds me of Kodocha and Marmalade boy. digisubs Adorable series. must see more Good music. Since the show is focused about music, the songs fit the series well. One of the things I really like about this series is the voice of Mitsuki, Myco. There is something about Myco's voice that seems lacking. This adds realism to Mitsuki's throat cancer. Myco's singing is good too. Mitsuki is a young girl of 12. Her life long dream is to become an Idol singer, but she is suffering from throat cancer. She lives with a very strict gradmother who keeps Mitsuki at home as much as possible. She's determined to sing. Two Shinagami, "Gods of Death" appear before her and help her out. Fushigi Yuugi Mysterious Play Yuu Watase's manga turned anime. The anime is fairly close to the manga art making for a smooth transition. I like the bright colors and diversity of clothing styles. Deck of Cards Miaka clip Miaka Pins Miaka/Tamahome bookmark Idol Cards A really good tragic romantic story. I like it alot. Pretty good. The opening and closing songs are really catchy. A magical book, "Universe of the Four Gods," absorbes two average school girls into another world. The girls become enemys in quests to awaken gods representing their city.
